Taking Fabric Zori Workshops International – Taiwan Edition

Taking Fabric Zori Workshops International – Taiwan Edition

Before the pandemic, we had the opportunity to hold fabric slipper workshops in both Taipei and Taichung.
In Taipei, 24 participants joined us over two days, and in Taichung, we welcomed 12 participants over another two-day session.

The Taipei workshop took place at a beautiful library space on the second floor of the former tobacco factory, now part of Songshan Cultural and Creative Park.
With 12 students, 3 instructors, and an interpreter, we found that handmade craft speaks its own universal language—everyone created stunning results despite the language barrier.

The venue itself, located on the north side of the old factory building, had an inspiring atmosphere. It was a comfortable and welcoming space for both participants and instructors alike.

You can watch a video of the workshop to get a feel for the experience.

In Taichung, the workshop was held at a lovely shop called CUBIX.
To our great delight, one of the participants who had previously joined us in Taipei came again—it was a heartwarming reunion.

CUBIX is a stylish store with an in-house café, featuring carefully curated lifestyle items from Japan and Europe. The second floor is dedicated to bicycles, and it also has a spacious event area where we held our workshop.
Thanks to the open, relaxed setting and the wonderful support from our interpreter, Riri, we had lively conversations and a truly enjoyable time crafting together.

Taiwan is filled with kind-hearted people and delicious food—it’s a place we’d love to return to again and again.
We hope to have the chance to bring all our tools and materials and visit again in the near future.
